South Bay Youth Changemakers is a non-profit community organization building Asian American youth power in the South Bay (Santa Clara County).

SBYC builds Asian American youth power by developing young leaders who organize for a more just and sustainable society. We strive to transform economic and social institutions to prioritize people over profit and shape our communities according to our collective needs and values.

Our Impact

As part of SBYC’s youth-led campaign, our youth produced a zine showcasing trends found on the current state of holistic wellness in Santa Clara County high schools, and identified bright spots- existing models, behaviors, and practices that work to support students’ wellness.

Over 60 youth have been a part of SBYC.

Do you want to build Asian American youth power?

Leadership Development

Young Asian Americans in the South Bay have untapped potential as leaders and changemakers in our region. SBYC unlocks young people’s leadership potential with holistic leadership development centered on political education, skills-building, and healing. SBYC is building a membership of civically and politically engaged young people connected with movements for social justice for the long haul.

Community Organizing

When young people organize around a shared vision of transformation, they build power for their communities and win meaningful, lasting change. Asian American youth play a critical role in shaping the conversations and values of their parents and elders to build support for progressive wins. We build community power by bringing together young people from across the scattered suburban communities of the South Bay to create change at the regional level.

Narrative
Work

Young people have always been at the forefront of imagining what our communities can win and achieve. Asian American youth can connect their families to communities across language and cultural barriers, expanding the possibilities of what we can envision for our communities. SBYC is amplifying young people’s voices and stories to challenge the status quo, change the narrative, and offer a progressive vision for the South Bay.

Civic
Engagement

Asian Americans are the fastest growing racial group in the country. Asian American voters can tip the scales in elections, and create local, regional, and statewide change. Civic engagement is critical to ensure that our communities’ needs are heard and reflected in decisions that affect their lives. In partnership with statewide coalitions, and local civic engagement organizations, SBYC is building up much needed civic engagement infrastructure to engage suburban voters in the South Bay.
